Impact (Black)

Impact is a representation of the Valley of Darkness, drawn from the Pulp Fiction quote delivered by Jules (Samuel L. Jackson). DS through Charity and Goodwill Shepherds the weak through the valley of Darkness. The Valley depicted by mass destruction is caused by war or the selfishness and tyranny of evil men.

Like most of our designs the contrast of elegance and destruction is the play of extreme opposites. This print also pays homage to where we are based. The design is a post war interpretation of Sydney City where the iconic Centrepoint Tower can be seen in the background.

The Wind Element is a special design being the only one out of the collection to have two variations. The two different colours selections of each print is specifically chosen to go onto a black and white tee. These designs rekindled the basics of art theory and the choice of certain contrast and complimentarty colours to create a mood. The five colour streaks form a horizon into a number of wind generators. The wind generators represent the natural energy and DS's current environment awareness.

Inspiration drawn from the "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" - a famous woodblock print by Japanese artist Hokusai (1832). His unique style in representing a great wave breaking over boats is much like an analogy of Deepsurface breaking into the streetwear industry. Using the same stylistic influences of "The Great Wave", the vivid blue wave break is intergrated into a Japanese Family Crest and symbolizes the three co-founders of "Deepsurface".

Deepsurface is also translated into katakana below the crest.

The Earth Design was inspired by the current high definition revolution.

Deepsurface wanted to push the limits on what was capable in today's screen-printing technology. This detailed image of earth from a satellites's point of view is digitally printed. This tee pays homage to DS's place of origin with an added twist to its geographic make up, the DS Neo logo is seen in the river line.

The concept behind Surface Lifestyle is being aware of the cards you are dealt in life and how you play it to the best of your ability. The hand you hold is known only by the individual and is something that remains underneath the surface. What makes a character is the way they play their hand ultimately refining their identity.
Element Fire (Black)

The DS Element Fire is one of a four piece collection. Based on the bold and fiery attitude of a popular 80's Transformer "Hot Rod", the outline of the Fire print draws similarities to the firebird decal on his front body. One of the more striking designs from the collection, the Fire Element's purpose is to be seen from afar. Within its sharply curved linework a firebird emerges, perched on top of "deepsurface".

The meaning behind this design is more than meets the eye.

DS Neo is the evolution of the Classic DS Logo. Open to change and influences we needed to travel beyond by looking back at what we were exposed to while we were growing up, Tron, Star Trek, Transformers, Star Wars, Silver Hawks etc. DS Neo is the future we saw in our past. A contrast to Surface Style the emphasis here is the Deep, where the shadow becomes the focus. Plain and simple.
