I just want to share a story with you guys, of a moment in time when Michael Jackson inspired me in a way i didn’t realise till now. When i was a wee little kid watching Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk on tv, i knew at that time… defying logic was possible. “How can you move backwards like that?” With persistent observation and practice… it was possible. I mastered the moonwalk together with other MJ moves, to a point where i was able to perform in front of my older brothers friends at school (mainly girls) for canteen money. Ain’t nothing like a sugar fix when you’re young hustler.
I guess that’s when i felt confident performing infront of an audience. It was this confidence that got me through school presentations, setting my foundations as a budding Emcee and managing my team at work.
As much as his music is timeless his inspiration is priceless. Rest In Peace.

24/06/09 - Ghostface Killah
Wu fans turned up in abundance packing out the Forum on Wednesday night to witness verbal swordsmanship from the one they call…. the ‘Ghostface Killah!’. From start to finish Ghost held it down tight! He represented with a show that was off the Chains giving the crowd the rawness and unique edge that IS the Wu-Tang Clan! After resurrecting myself from his killer show, i managed to take this one pic of Ghostface at the merch stand signing autographs.
Check him out in Sydney this Monday the 29th at Oxford Art Factory if you missed his 1st show. He’ll also be at Byron Bay on the 1st of July but check out Oztix for full tour details. oh… But wait there is more…
Tickets for the Metro Theatre show go on sale on Friday, July 3 and will set you forward $57.20. Buy tickets here. This is turning out to be the year of the Wu…

22/06/09 - Big Pond Big Beat
Same media - different avenue. Aside from The Vangarde site, MySpace and iTunes, the Not Dead Yet album is now available at BigPond Music.
This 12 track LP crosses a range of genres from hip hop to drum n bass, rock to big beat, and jungle to breaks. With beats chunky enough to tear your face off, massive guitar riffs, heavy synths, and poisonous poetry - prepare to break your necks - it’s a banger! Those who avidly delve into the electronica umbrella, this will definately surpass your beat-fix, minus the pretentiousness, the fluro and venetian sunnies.
Thank you Allison Hefferman, Tim Dixon and MusicOz.

20/06/09 - NES Gold Cart
Doing my daily surf of the web today and stumbled across an article for an old skool Nintendo Entertainment System gold-coloured cartridge listing on eBay with a starting bid of $25K!!! Definitely something for the gaming connoisseur. The last gold cartridge sold for $15,000 with a claim to be the “Holy Grail” of gaming.
The cartridge features three games - Super Mario Bros, Tetris and Rad Racer.
I wonder if you still have to blow into the cartridge to make it work for $25K???

19/06/09 - The Zen Master
Coach of the Los Angles Lakers, Phil Jackson became the greatest coach in proffesional sporting history this Monday by winning his 10th NBA championship. He surpasssed the great ‘Red’ Auerbach who had nine NBA titles. Phil Jackson used a Holistic approach to coaching where the ‘team’ system will ultimately determine how the individuals behave. During his career he had great players such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pipen, Shaq and Kobe Bryant who believed in his philosophy, taking them and their ‘team’ to the promise land, an NBA championship. That is six with the Chicago Bulls in the 90’s, three consecutive with the LA Lakers from 2000-2002 and again with the Lakers in 2009.
Phil Jackson is also known as the ‘Zen Master’ incorporating his eastern ideologies to his players, making them believe in being the best they can for the good of the team. He taught or enlightened players to seize the moment, when the moment comes. One of his greatest quotes is that “the strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack.” What a Legend… nuff said.

Say hello to my new friend… The Behringer B-2 Pro!
Ahh yes, the first piece of equipment to begin my home studio. My experience with this bad boy is having recorded all my vocals for the Not Dead Yetalbum, which my band released earlier this year. Now I got my own! (Thank you Angel).

14/06/09 - What the Duck!
Disney’s Donald Fauntleroy Duck just turned 75! (Yes that is his middle name) Donald Duck made his debut on June 9th, 1934, in the animated short The Wise Little Hen. Mickey Mouse’s Yin to his Yang, Donald Duck has always been know as the anti-hero. Donald’s been the definition of a ‘Battler’, havin a crack at different professions, always seeming to be strapped for cash, stumblin to bogus adventures and never backing down or quitting he will always go down fighting. Donald’s appeal tends to strike a cord with adults leavin goody-two-shoes Mickey for the kids.
Starring in more films than Mickey he also has a bigger family with nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, offspring of his sister Della Duck and his crotchety Uncle Scrooge. Ohh you can’t forget his other half, Daisy. Apart from his speech impediment you can’t go past his heart of Gold.
Speaking of Ducks… let’s take a moment and reflect on the famous ducks of the past.
