For all you Photography Enthusiasts out there, the Head On Foundation is holding the 2009 photographic portrait competition.

Head On is the nation’s major innovative showcase for Australian portrait photography, reflecting a vibrant, diverse cross-section of new and traditional photographic practices.

Submissions are now open and close on 22nd March. Total Value of prizes is approximately $37,000.

While i was MIA in MNL Philippines i stumbled across a slick streetwear store, Greyone Social. This joint is situated in the heart of Makati City which famous for its shopping, celebrities and nightlife. This is one of two Greyone Social spots in Manila which opened back in November ‘08 at Greenbelt 5. The other can be found in Rockwell, also in Makati City. You can also call into a Greyone or Greyone SoulAssassins store if you’re in Pasadena, California.  

Home to brands such as Crooks, Hellz, Stussy, Sneakertip, Supra just to name a few.

The journey is sometimes more rewarding than the final product. Rinpa Eshidan instead of focusing on the finished project, believe the process of creation itself is where art comes to life. 

This Thursday from 6-9pm is the opening night for the Love Moments exhibition at the Art Moment Gallery.  Featuring a mixed media lineup of art including photography work by Anna Zhu (2009 Moran Contempory Photographic Prize Finalist).  The last time we caught up with Anna was at the DAS Super Paper Launch.

The exhibition runs from February 19th to March 8th at Shop 1, 99 Curlewis Street, Bondi Beach.

I’m sure you all know that we are experiencing one of the worst global recessions since the Great Depression of 1929. Everyone has felt the pinch, even large scale and small independent brands have either folded, restructured, or had to come up with new ways to stay afloat. I was doing my daily surf of the web and catching up on the latest news around the world when i came across this interesting article about menswear label Five Four and how they have had to adjust their whole approach to their business in order to weather this storm.  I met some of the boys from FF (Sameer & Anthony) at Preview back in march 08….
