23/12/09 - Break N Enter BNE

From SYD to BNE it was always gonna be a home coming for DS. Our roots sprouted in the very place we wanted the fruits of our labor to drop. After almost 5 years of evolving DS into a brand and deciding to go down south to grow in an environment we felt was more ideal, the circle has come around in the fullest.

This is the goods we were packin.

The Trip was due and it panned out with one of us taking the easy route, a 1hr flight and the other doin it two-the-hard-way. First things first, our mode of transport AKA Black August was blessed with the DS and was our protector on this grueling 11hr drive. From Sydney’s Anzac bridge to Queensland’s Bloody HOT AS! The temp was a creeper hitting 47degrees.

When we finally reached our final destination it was a trip back in time revisiting the hood that was such a vivid part of our wonder (where they went) years. If you know what I mean. As the hood turned to cityscape, on went the game face… operation Break N Enter was a go. The target… an established sneaker store ‘Laced.’

If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Brisbane and I’m talking about Gold Coast or Byron Bay, it is compulsory to peep out Laced (35 Adelaide Street) Brisbane CBD. Chris Brown, Rihanna… who ever is in town, knows what’s good. Anyone who’s in the know or who doesn’t know needs to know now this place has Sneaker Culture in its DNA. The two watchmen Phil and Clinton are the coolest cats you’ll ever meet.

Phil droppin knowledge on their new shit.

Checkout out some of the creations they had in their upstairs gallery.

You can seriously walk in there with your undies and exit with the latest Nikes, slickest pair of Japanese selvage demins, a psychedelic space cadet Mishka Tee, a cracking New era Brimmin over a pair of dope Dita’s, a Kidrobot for your nephew and a Transformer for yourself, coz you never had that one when you were a kid.

On that note I am please to say that you can NOW cop a Deepsurface Tee at Laced.

Mission accomplished.

This is only the beginning, don’t sleep coz like a Trojan Horse Deepsurface are Breakin N Enterin.

12/12/09 - The 2nd Stronghold

Previously featured Dance/ Electronica band “The Vangarde” followed up with their ’07 Oz Music Awards success by winning ‘08’s “MTV Best Unsigned Video Artist” award. The Film Clip for “Ode to Toyko” is a pychotic fusion of Postive vs. Negative imagery fueled with a high energy digital battle against traditional Japanese kendo fighting. Keep your ears out for their New Album soon to drop.
